| Each island has a different magick.
Whether close to home or far away, being near a body of water gives a certain feeling that’s unique to that place.
It wasn’t until the Mermaid Magick class that I connected that unique feeling with these magical beings.
A month before taking the class, I was fortunate to spend a few days in Hawaii. The first steps off the plane after arriving in Hawaii were some of my favorite breaths of air. That sensation of emerging into the special warmth was exhilarating! For me, it activated an energy and passion for life – and now I understand more about how this feeling relates to the ancient magick that’s there.
Perhaps like others, I joined the Mermaid class feeling open and curious but not at all certain. I knew that I loved being around water and that I’m driven to learn as much as possible about the subtleties of the world around me.
Understanding the world, including that which we can’t yet consciously perceive, helps us to understand ourselves. Understanding ourselves helps us lead more joyful and fulfilling lives.
Mermaids have been part of mythology for thousands of years. At the very least, this is cause for curiosity – curiosity as to how, around the world, people from all different civilizations documented and shared about the same type of beings.
Stepping into the Mermaid Magick classroom was like stepping into water – flowy and beautiful and full of movement. I realized just how watery it was after stepping out of the room at the end of the day and realizing that I already missed the sensation of class.
The class itself was an absolute joy. There was laughter, community, and meditations unlike any I had done before. The teacher’s deep passion evoked a personal excitement, and space was held for our questions and for both collective and internal reflections.
You don’t have to “believe” in mermaids to experience and benefit from these teachings. There is a reverence for the earth. There is the hope of what might be possible. There is that creative spark.
After class, I began seeing mermaid art everywhere. A key for me was to pay more attention.
If given the opportunity, I’d encourage anyone to attend, particularly anyone curious to expand their awareness, wanting to connect more deeply with our gorgeous planet, or interested in receiving a unique gem of insight or breakthrough that they might not even realize they need.
One gem for me was the breathtaking kindness of my classmates and teacher. I was blown away by the openheartedness that everyone held – it was moving and inspiring and helped me to feel new levels of connectedness to, and gratitude for, humanity.
As an example, after class I planned to take a long public transit journey back to my friend’s house where I was staying. I mentioned this to the instructor, who suggested I speak with a classmate I had never met, and then – despite logistical limitations (a screw already lodged in her tire), this classmate insisted on driving across town, in the opposite direction of her own home, to drop me safely at my friend’s door step. Through the flowing, generous energy of class, I received this gift and made a new friend.
This is the energy of Mermaid Magick.
It’s energy that I continue to hold in my heart months after taking the class and as I move forward through the world.
I left Mermaid Magick inspired to use the tools I received and to cultivate more passion in my life. Passion is the fuel that so much of our world needs. |
