Dear Community,
As the gears are turning for a new year, it is good to review our 2025 and acknowledge the teams who showed loving kindness through charity. We also pulled out a conversation from our archives about Service versus Charity to understand the value and difference of both through the eyes of Ubuntu: I am who I am because of who we are (loosely translated).
Today you have the opportunity to experience the very special, free Prayer Service as part of our Metaphysical Wednesdays. Read below for more information.

Charity vs Service
Ubuntu – from the Nguni phrase, Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu – is a powerful philosophy that a person is a person through other people or to be human is to recognize the humanity of others.
Ubuntu describes the philosophy of kinship across race and creed, and represents an openness that all people could have to one another.
This week we share how we can develop this Ubuntu through Charity and Service.
In the Mystery School, we often share the power of the Life Activation & the Empower Thyself Class & Initiation. You might wonder why we share the tools of the Life Activation wand and the Initiation sword…! Both of these holy tools are sanctified in an ancient tradition so that they can unlock the powerful Divine potential within you. The Life Activation warms you up so you can hit a home run with the Empower Thyself Initiation that sets you up for success… and that is just the beginning!
Service is defined not just as an act of goodness we can do for another, but as awakening someone’s true Divine potential. It is a step beyond ‘teaching a man to fish’ – it’s opening a door to show someone that the knowledge of how to be the Master of your Life lies right inside of you!
This is a huge act of Ubuntu, and every day there are many acts of Ubuntu you can do, not just in the form of Service, but in the form of kindness and charity. Charity is ensuring a human being has what they need in their daily life. We can do this by simply giving someone a loaf of bread if they are hungry or helping those that are going through a crisis. These acts of care awaken our soul & remind us of our own humanity. Often the gifts received when giving are unexpected and are a huge blessing.
This week we would like to share some of the Charity projects of the MMS UK & EU team in 2025, big and small, and if you want to be a part of these projects, just drop us a line. Opening your heart to others is always worth it! Together every bit makes a difference!

As a team of light, we are committed to love and service to humanity. As part of sharing that love, the Modern Mystery School UK & EU (MMS UK & EU) and all of us as individuals have founded and / or contributed to various charitable endeavours on our journey. Over the course of 2025, MMS UK & EU, under the guidance of Ipssisima Kate Bartram-Brown, has supported Random Acts of Kindness (ROAK), a grassroots initiative, dedicated to spreading love, kindness and support to those facing hardship. Through donations and thoughtful actions, ROAK aims to support individuals and families, creating a ripple effect of positivity.
On 5 April 2025, many of us gathered and ran 8km and managed to raise just under £9,000 for ROAK.
On 21 December 2025, MMS UK & EU, hosted a beautiful Wiccan event to celebrate the Solstice where all proceeds, totalling £600 was donated to ROAK. Over Christmas, MMS UK & EU also sent £750 worth of Christmas presents to ROAK to distribute to needy children and families.
On Saturday 4 April 2026, many of us will also gather to run 8 KM to spread joy and raise funds for ROAK and a few other charities.
Many of us from the team, as individuals and light workers have also started and contributed to various causes:
Divina Ann Donelly and her team in Ireland raised £910 for Foyle Women’s Aid and EUR 605 for Dublin’s Liberty Soup Run Homeless Support. They also prepared 30 pamper packs for the women under the care of Foyle Women’s Aid.
Foyle Women’s Aid is a charity based in Derry, Northern Ireland, with a mission to eliminate domestic abuse and sexual violence. They provide emergency accommodation for families fleeing violence at home and provide counselling, legal aid and children’s facilities for those affected. Among other things, the funds raised by Divina Ann and her team, through charity runs and Solstice events, have helped to create a garden space for everyone to enjoy.
Liberty Soup Run Dublin is a grassroots charity which is completely reliant on volunteers and donations from the public. 7 days a week 365 days a year, volunteers drive a van packed with goods to help people sleeping rough and struggling with addiction. They distribute food, clothing and toiletries, offering a listening ear and signposting to those sleeping rough.
Szymon Ferber sourced carpet tiles leftover from his workplace, transported and then built a reading shed for school children at St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy
Grace Hui, founded and continues to run Leonard’s Lunchbox, a community based project in East London to support those who have fallen on hard times and need support with feeding their animal companions. It runs weekly on Thursday Evenings and also provides a warm space for many people (many of whom live alone and are elderly) to have a cuppa and some social interaction.
Eslyn Olivia Barends co-founded The DreamGirls Academy, a South African based, nonprofit mentorship organisation which guides young women from disadvantaged communities to break cycles of poverty and step into leadership. A particularly meaningful milestone in 2025 was seeing 5 DreamGirls selected to attend the G20 Summit to represent female education on a global stage.
Together, in unity, much can be done to support and uplift our world!

Happening tonight: Prayer Night!
A universal Prayer Night — everyone is welcome!
Do you pray? Do you talk to God, Source, the Universe – or simply to something greater than you?
In moments of challenge, uncertainty, or change, prayer can be a powerful way to bring light and love to a situation. It helps us soften the mind’s grip, open the heart, and receive guidance from above – beyond what we can see in our linear mind perspective.
This is a free, in-person Monthly Prayer Night offered as a universal service. You are welcome exactly as you are, regardless of your faith, spiritual background, or personal beliefs.
What to expect
During this evening, one of the Guides in the Modern Mystery School tradition will lead us through prayer in a grounded, uplifting way.
You can expect:
- A warm, inclusive space held with care and respect
- Guided prayer to bring light, love, and support to what you’re moving through
- A chance to reconnect with your own inner faith, whatever that means for you
- The power of praying together as a community
Why pray together?
Many of us prayed naturally as children – with trust, imagination, and gratitude. As adults, we can return to that same connection, with even deeper awareness.
When we pray together, something shifts. We lift what feels heavy into a higher realm, the quantum field, God, the Universe, and invite infinite possibilities to meet what once felt stuck or limited.

You’re invited to bring a personal prayer for yourself, a loved one, a situation, or simply for more peace, clarity, and support.
This is not about “doing it right.” It’s about showing up, opening your heart, and allowing the light to move.
